RAILWAY CRASH NEAR WANGANUI LAST WEEK: GOODS TRAIN JUMPS RAILS ON WHANGAEHU BRIDGE [1941]


The bridge was on a section of the Marton New Plymouth Line that was bypassed by the Fordell Deviation then under construction. It was the second railway bridge crossing the Whangaehu River, some distance downstream from the better known bridge at Tangiwai.
